Shreya Malu, Architect, Urban Designer – United States

shreya_04_300Shreya Malu is an architect and urban designer with her professional body of work spanning eight years in India. It includes institutional campuses, industrial master plans, and development plans of metropolitan areas. These diverse projects have pushed her to analyze, predict and plan at varied scales for multiple stakeholders simultaneously. She has independently handled large projects that involved extensive site and data analysis and comprehensive design development.

In past two years in US, she volunteered at UCLA Urban Humanities Initiative (part of UCLA Urban Design program) under Prof. Dana Cuff as research associate. Presently, she does freelance design work and is coordinating projects related to Social Capital Credits for an non-profit organization called ‘Asia Initiatives’. She is also coordinating and collaborating for a book titled’ Building Social Capital by Design’ led by Columbia University professor, Dr. Geeta Mehta. The book would be published by Columbia University in Summer 2017. She also contributes to an international magazine focused on cities, ‘MY LIVEABLE CITY’.

She did her B.Arch from School of Planning and Architecture, India in 2006 and graduated from Columbia University in 2009 majoring in Urban Design. She also holds the ‘American Institute of Certified Planners’ (AICP) certification.
